History & Heritage

The story of Karas Wines began in 2003 when Argentine-Armenian entrepreneur Eduardo Eurnekian and his niece, vintner and sommelier Juliana Del Aguila Eurnekian, envisioned a transformative agricultural venture in Arevadasht, Armavir Province. Their goal was to revitalize Armenia's 6,000-year winemaking heritage by combining ancestral traditions with modern viticulture. Partnering with world-renowned French consulting oenologist Michel Rolland, Tierras de Armenia planted over 2,300 hectares of volcanic terroir. The name "Karas" pays homage to the traditional Armenian clay amphorae used for millennia to ferment and age fine wines.
